About Agape Learning Design
Entrusted to Serve: A Faithful Record in Learning Experience Design
Architecting Learning Experiences that Honor the Creator, Bridge Cultures, and Restore Communities
Guided by a commitment to holistic, redemptive education, Gary Bartanus, Lead Architect of Agape Learning Experience Design, brings a unique global perspective to his work. During his years serving as an EFL instructor in Asia, he developed a profound esteem for the region’s cultural values—most notably the deep-seated honor and reverence shown to elders. This respect for wisdom and lineage mirrors his own faith-based worldview, where education is viewed as a bridge between generations and a means of restoring the “image of God” in every learner.
He believes that “global education” is a sacred stewardship that transcends borders and honors every soul’s human dignity. Whether developing interactive media, improving workflow with AI, or volunteering in the community, his mission is to reflect the character of the Creator and to nurture the “whole person” through innovative, faith-integrated educational experiences.

Code Hack 2025
A Weekend of Purpose and Possibility
Kristy and I were thrilled to volunteer at Island Health’s 2025 Code Hack, a healthcare-focused hackathon at Royal Jubilee Hospital in Victoria. Kristy participated as an Ally while I contributed as a Designer, leveraging my skills in learning design and team facilitation.
Our team tackled the challenge of reducing senior isolation near the end of life by proposing an affordable multigenerational housing model to help elders stay connected and age with dignity. I had the privilege of opening our presentation, using my experience in narrative crafting. The weekend was vibrant and inspiring, filled with passionate individuals, including a joyful physician from Nepal who showcased the power of kindness and optimism.
AV Team Camera Guy
Rest Haven Seventh-day Adventist Church
During my time as an AV Guy at Rest Haven SDA Church, I had the privilege of working with an inspiring team who were such a blessing to me with their warmth and enthusiastic approach to glorifying God through collaboration, mutual “agape-style” respect, and openness to innovation. From the team leadership on down, everyone was dedicated to selfless service and lifting up the community.
This Spirit-led experience allowed me to grow as a technician and as a Christian, forging lasting friendships and gaining valuable lessons in faith, teamwork, and true agape love. Adam, Louise, Harley, and the team didn’t only talk the talk. They walked it, as Jesus did! Hallelujah!

ADDIE-Informed Architecture
Analyze & Design: Identifying core needs and crafting tailored educational strategies that honor every soul’s human dignity. By collaborating closely with SMEs, we ensure every learning objective aligns with a higher purpose of growth and restoration.

While these phases follow a sequence, I move adaptively between them to ensure the final solution reflects the character of the Creator and meets the unique needs of every learner.
Stewardship of Multimedia Production
Aside from expertise in adult learning theory, UX design best practices, and pedagogy, another factor that distinguishes Agape Learning Experience Design is a unique capacity for producing engaging and effective multimedia content in a fully equipped in-house studio. This significantly reduces the need to pay additional fees to external video production companies, voiceover artists, and on-camera talent. It also results in engaging, transformative learning.
Interview With Thrive Magazine
Backstory: Because of the unprecedented 98.6% employee completion rate of a 2021 project in which I used green screen, advanced multimedia editing, and a bit of acting talent, I found myself honoured with the title of the “Face of Federal Training.” This resulted in the interview shown below.
